Muheim contributed significantly to the design, building, commissioning and operation of the RICH detectors which are described in this paper. In particular he was the project leader for the Hybrid Photon detectors (HPDs). Under his leadership the Edinburgh LHCb group set up the photon detector test facilities which were used to study the properties of over 500 HPDs. He contributed to the drafting of the RICH chapter of the paper.
