Additional information

“This paper reports a novel approach capable of predicting the navigational risk level of commercial vessels in dynamic operational environments in inland waterways” (Managing Editor, Reliability Engineering & System Safety). The research findings have been highly commended by Changjiang Maritime Safety Administration (CMSA), China and used in its routine safety management (Section Chief, CMSA). The work was supported by CMSA and China National Science Foundation (GR/51209165, Zhang, Wuhan University of Technology, £26k, 2012-2015). It was also supported by a FP7 Marie Curie project in collaboration with Wuhan University of Technology (Reference-314836, Wang & Yang, €383k, 2012-2016).
