Additional information

A problem in drug delivery is to get a high encapsulation efficiency and a sustained release profile. This paper is about the processing and characterisation of a bone-targeting device with a drug high entrapment efficiency (over 40%) and a sustained release profile over 31 days. These values are exceptional, and have led to collaborative projects involving colleagues from NDORMS, Oxford; University of Swansea, and US and Chinese Universities. The bone-targeting is achieved by coatings of hydroxyapaptite using our own dual constant composition method. A patent has been applied for - WO2008149096A2, and IP licence assigned to Swansea University to exploit.
