A sonic economy

The idea for the paper came out of a workshop held at the Pacific Centre for Technology and Culture where I collaborated on a presentation with Professor Johnny Golding, June 2009 (http://pactac.net/series/critical-digital-studies-workshops/page/2/). Following extensive discussion as part of the workshop I was invited by Arthur and Marilouise Kroker to submit the chapter for peer review. The paper argues that in order to fully understand the non-representational nature of digital environments, with their continually shifting frames of reference, an aural or sonic approach is required. Such an approach can it is argued, begin to address the failings of strictly visual logic.
