A Unified Manufacturing Resource Model for representing CNC machining systems
Initially, Part-200 of the STEP-NC standard was drafted to represent machine-level information. However, end-users were demanding a standard to represent factory-level information, which can represent production cells and auxiliary devices. Proposed work involves development of data-modelling methodology for representing diversified CNC machining systems. This methodology was well received by ISO-TC184SC1 due to its versatility and capability in addressing the broad manufacturing resource domains. Authors were invited to write a book chapter in “Advanced Design and Manufacturing Based on STEP” published by springer. This research is adapted in EU-FP7 programme STEPMAN (no. 286962) with funding of €550K for Bath's involvement.
