This article discusses the first phase of a KTP which focuses on media choices of children between 7 and 13 years old. By placing the work of production company Boomerang+ in the context of academic research and established methodologies for fieldwork with children, the work of designing and implementing an online questionnaire is discussed in detail. Interesting points for discussion associated with the ‘tweens’ as a target audience are the patterns of use of multimedia, brand recognition, gender, age and language (Welsh /English) choices, form and content. The article also considers the effects of academic research in a commercial context.<br/>
