Double-weighted statement

The first four criteria all apply. The book represents over five years of full-time research. The project required expertise in English literature, classical literature, classical reception, translation studies and palaeography and text-editing, and mastery of a very wide range of primary texts in English, Latin and Greek, and of related secondary literature (on Jonson, Shakespeare, Marlowe and Donne as well as Horace, Pindar, Seneca, Martial, Juvenal and Persius). It incorporates considerable work (transcription, translation and editing) on unpublished manuscripts, both in Latin and English, from the British Library and Bodleian Library.
