The range of axial rotation of the glenohumeral joint.
There is a paucity of data on the restraining effects of the glenohumeral ligaments with important implications for modelling the shoulder; impacting on surgical planning and intervention for patients with soft tissue damage around the shoulder joint. Using a custom-made six degrees of freedom joint loading apparatus the joint laxity, the envelope of laxity was measured. Simulating clinical tests and assessing the biomechanics of pathological conditions and repair. This paper has implications for examining and treating individuals that present with glenohumeral joint pathology. The author made a substantial contribution to carrying out the study (including acquisition of study data).
