Double-weighted statement

This is the only book-length academic study of the influential American minimalist sculptor, Carl Andre (b.1935). The publication is roughly 100,000 words in length, and none of its eleven chapters has been published previously. It is informed by substantial historical and archival research, and draws from museum and private archives in Europe and the United States. Rider was the first scholar to be granted complete access to the artist's private archives, enabling him to develop a full, independent perspective on the artist's long career, and to assess Andre's role in histories of post-war American and European art.
