Double-weighted statement

This book (456pp.) is the first detailed narrative survey of medieval ecclesiastical architecture in Scotland in over a century. It presents a rigorous new interpretation of its domain, based on many years of analysis and research. It is comprehensive in scope, fully informed by surviving documents, and productive of many new facts and interpretations. Methodologically, it presents a new approach to its subject, in that the narrative is rooted in history as well as formal concepts. It has been recognised by the author’s peers as the best architectural history book published in the last four years by a British author.
