About 8000 words of chapter 4 (which is 16,000 words in length) present a revised version of material that originally appeared in Hibberd's article 'Murder in the Cathedral? Stradella, Musical Power, and Performing the Past in 1830s Paris', Music and Letters (2006) 87:4, pp. 551-579. The shared material represents less than half of the original article.
This substantial monograph contains five article-length studies on different operas, each of which could have appeared as a separate journal output. In addition there is a 20-page introductory chapter. As such the book offers 'the collection and analysis of a considerable body of material', thereby satisfying the HEFCE requirements for double-weighting.
