Additional information

Work reported in this paper is also part of the project “Bonded Crack Retarders” (2006-09) funded by the EPSRC through Cranfield 's IMRC (GR/R 68139) and industrial sponsors Airbus, Cytec and Alcoa Inc. USA, collaborating with the Open University. This paper reports the theoretical framework and computer model developed during the project, now being explored by Airbus via a follow-on project “Airstream WP4” (2010-13), funded by the TSB and industrial partners as above, for application of the developed method to realistic airframe structures aiming at higher Technology Readiness Levels.
