Additional information

This research was funded by Rolls-Royce (through its University Technology Centre in Gas Turbine Performance Engineering, £2.1M). The research outcome improves the predictive capability in terms of the altitude relight performance of aero engines. The results were first presented at the ASME Turbo Expo 2010 conference, winning the “ASME Cycles Innovations Committee Best Paper Award” of the same year. The results have been adopted in follow-on projects funded by Rolls-Royce (2010-2013) to build on and improve the methodology. (Contact: richard.tunstall@rolls-royce.com)
