This research was performed as part of the Octopus project (www.esi.nl/octopus/, €7.4M) funded by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs through Agentschap NL Innovatie. It paved a new path towards rational systems architecting instead of traditional reliance on individual experience and tacit knowledge (contact Frans Beenker, Director Industrial Programs, Embedded Systems Institute (Eindhoven, The Netherlands, frans.beenker@esi.nl). The research outputs have been used experimentally by Océ N.V. (part of Canon Group) to scientifically codify and capture knowledge for systems architecting in a computer-based tool (contact Paul Hilkens, VP Research, Océ, The Netherlands, paul.hilkens@oce.com).
