This paper explores the application of a new technique for multi-phase flow measurements particularly for conditions that hitherto commercially available systems cannot cope with. The paper received two awards; the Ludwig Mond prize from the Institute of Mechanical Engineering (IMechE) in 2010 – in recognition of the best contribution to the progress of Mechanical engineering of interest to the chemical industry (UK), and, the SAGE award for the best paper published in 2010 in the Journal of Process Mechanical Engineering (IMechE).
