A comparison of disinfection by-products found in chlorinated and chloraminated drinking waters in Scotland
This paper was an outcome of Cranfield-led research, funded by the Scottish Government (Project Code: UCR/003/07) in collaboration with Scottish Water, who experience problems in achieving 100% compliance with disinfection by-product regulations. The project informed both parties that that disinfecting drinking water with chloramines rather than chlorine would not put the health of the Scottish public at risk (Matthew Bower Matthew.Bower@scotland.gsi.gov.uk). The work also helped Scottish Water’s understanding of the disinfection by-products associated with chloramination (Richard Allan richard.allan@scottishwater.co.uk).
