International collaboration between Cranfield University, Zhejiang University and industrial partners Wujiang Nanyuan Electric Appartus Co. LTD. It developed a line-start permanent magnet synchronous machine with around 10% higher efficiency than the commercial industrial induction machine.

The machine developed in this paper now is in mass production (100,000 units per year) for industrial ventilation application in Wujiang Nanyuan Electric Appartus Co. Ltd (contact manager Cheng Yuan, email:ychen2596@sina.com).
