<16> This paper combines previous work classifying search engine queries with descriptive techniques developed in the field of informetrics. Our longitudinal study suggests that the information need behind a query reliably predicts result stability. This is the first publication to link the stability of search results to search intent. JASIST is a leading journal in the field of Computer Science. It was ranked 20/132 in the ISI Journal Citation Reports 2012 (Computer Science Information Systems).
