Interaction strategies for an affective conversational agent
<20> The paper describes interaction strategies that derive from the integration of dialogue techniques for conversational agents, resulting in novel contributions in terms of affective dialogue and interruptions. The system it describes is a large-scale, fully implemented prototype, involving multiple institutions in the UK and Europe, as part of the FP6 Integrated project ‘Companions’. It was awarded the Best Demonstration prize at AAMAS 2010 [Cavazza et al., 2010] and was also presented at the ICT 2010 exhibition of EC-funded projects, featuring in the Euronews coverage of the event. Smith was a PhD student supervised by Cavazza at the time of publication.
