Additional information
<26> This was especially selected to appear in an important book, with 187 citations on Medial Representations. The paper is the first to demonstrate that the notion of medial representation of shape is ubiquitous in nature (at all scales), in human produced artefacts and (possibly) in human perception. What results is an entirely new classification scheme for shapes. This opens out the possibility of new and significant applications in computer vision and graphics. The work has been cited in IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence and the International Journal of Geographical Information.
