Additional information
This paper is the first to successfully measure Clostridium Difficile captured from the air. It is significant because it confirms the potential for an airborne component of infection for this dangerous pathogen. Numerous other studies have now been able to identify airborne Clostridium Difficile citing the procedures outlined in the paper and thereby contribute to better health care in hospitals.
This work was possible due to a long standing research relationship with Prof. Kerr, Consultant Microbiologist at Harrogate District Hospital, who has incorporated the findings as part of the hospital's infection control strategies.
