In-fiber microchannel device filled with a carbon nanotube dispersion for passive mode-lock lasing
This paper results from an international collaboration to exploit low-loss compact optical fibre devices, invented at Aston, for fibre lasers capable of ultra-fast modulation, with industrial applications including optical communication, high power ultrafast lasers, spectroscopy and metrology for high-resolution ranging. New research at Aston University was initiated leading to 4 more journal papers (DOI: 10.1364/OME.2.000884, 10.1063/1.3691922, 10.1364/OL.36.003831, 10.1364/OE.18.018906) and a research programme with £14k funding from Royal Academy of Engineering (12/13REC). Other research groups have taken up this work in Cambridge, Ajou University (Korea), RAS Institutes (Russia), Shenzhen University and South China Normal University (China), Osaka University (Japan).
