Characterization and performance of glass-ceramic sealant to join metallic interconnects to YSZ and anode-supported-electrolyte in planar SOFCs
The publication resulted from an international collaboration between teams from the UK (Hertfordshire) and Italy as part of Network-of-Excellence FP6 project and published in a pre-eminent ceramics journal. It is original because unlike the work of previous researchers, it successfully developed a new glass-ceramic sealant for solid-oxide fuel cells. Testing in air and humidified hydrogen at 1073K showed that this composition was effective in preventing adverse effects like formation and volatilisation of Na2CrO4 and CaO-Y2O3 glasses. The information was the basis of the creation of ACACIA Cleantech a spin-off company in Italy (contact: F. Smeacetto; federico.smeacetto@polito.it, shareholder in ACACIA Cleantech).
