This is a paper published in a leading journal. It resulted from an international collaboration between researchers from the UK (Hertfordshire), Italy, Poland and France as part of the FP6 Network of Excellence in "Knowledge-based Multi-component Materials" project. It follows up work from two earlier papers. The sealant composition was tailor-made to respond in such a way for sodium to diffuse away from the interface to avoid formation of the volatile Na2Cr2O7. The investigation enabled ACACIA Cleantech to build and optimise the behaviour of its solid-oxide fuel cell product (Contact: F. Smeacetto, shareholder: federico.smeacetto@polito.it).
