Additional information

This paper reveals the pre-breakdown and breakdown characteristics of environmentally friendly ester insulating liquids, and produces a dielectric strength curve from small to large gaps so as to aid insulation design of ester liquid filled power transformers. It has been included in a CIGRE technical brochure on Dielectric Performance of Liquids that is aimed to report state of art on understating of liquid breakdown of transformers oil (CIGRE AG D1.01, Chairman's contact details available). Since its publication in 2011, the work has been recognized by several international groups working on insulating liquids (DOI: 10.1109/TDEI.2013.6518957 and DOI: 10.1109/TDEI.2012.6311496).
