Additional information

This paper analyses the statistics of breakdown voltages of environmentally friendly esters. Funded by a consortium of companies including National Grid, UKPN, Scottish Power (contact details available) it aims to increase the knowledge of liquids alternative to mineral oil and ester application in large power transformers. It has led to further funding, £420k and £1,050k for second and third phases of research in transformer insulation systems, sponsored by National Grid, Scottish Power, UKPN and others. This work has been further developed by Alstom Grid (DOI: 10.1109/TDEI.2012.6311494), Delft University of Technology(DOI: 10.1109/CEIDP.2012.6378927), and University of Leicester (DOI: 10.1109/TDEI.2012.6311509).
