Additional information

<23>This research arose from an on-going collaboration with Ulster’s Bio-medical Sciences Research Institute, originally funded through an MRC/EPSRC Discipline Hopping award (G0300540). The work is being used currently in support of a research grant application under the US(NSF/NIH)-Ireland programme in collaboration with National University of Ireland, Galway (Dr. Laoise McNamara, laoise.mcnamara@nuigalway.ie) and Georgia Institute of Technology, USA (Professor Stephen Sprigle, stephen.sprigle@coa.gatech.edu), where it will be used to assist with segmentation of tissue types in medical images for modelling buttock deformation in persons seated for prolonged periods (eg. wheel-chair users), with the aim of alleviating pressure sores.
