Additional information

This is the first paper to demonstrate that gas-phase passivation can be exploited for the performance improvement of Si nanowire applications beyond the normally reported sensing applications. Its significance is that gases can be used as an inexpensive and industrially compatible process to enhance the power generation capabilities of silicon nanowires.

This research initiates the start of a new Chinese – UK research collaboration with the world renowned Chinese Academy of Sciences. The collaboration has been supported by an EPSRC grant to retain key members of staff for progress on the research topic.
