Additional information

The issues surrounding the analysis and design of dual-output LC LC resonant converters are presented. The major contribution was centred around the effects of transformer leakage inductance which affects the behaviour of the rectifier to the point where the actual converter behaviour dramatically departs from the ideal. A new model capturing this behaviour is presented permitting more accurate design predictions to be made. The impetus for this work came from Philips who were actively seeking solutions for dual-output power supplies for using in their audio products and they have since embodied this technique for their consumer electronic products.
