Additional information

<28> This paper was published in a leading multidisciplinary sciences journal, and presents the first models of oscillatory biochemical circuits based on Boolean logic. By constructing Boolean Delay Equation (BDE) formulations of established Differential Equation (DE) models of circadian clocks, as well as experimental luciferase data, it is shown that BDEs possess sufficient dynamic complexity to distinguish between putative regulatory architectures, despite the significant reduction in model complexity. Furthermore, the study demonstrates that BDEs can reproduce the complex responses to environmental signals of their DE counterparts, with significant implications for the nature of information processing in entrained biological networks.
