Additional information

Described, a new method developed to predict and comprehensively analyse, the limit-cycles of flutter-induced vibrations in structures with nonlinear contact interfaces. New mechanisms of limiting the flutter-induced vibrations by contact interfaces have been revealed.

The method allows, for the first time, the direct calculation of limit-cycle amplitudes and frequencies as functions of contact interface parameters, using realistic large-scale finite element models of structures. The method has been implemented within the in-house code developed by the author and used at Rolls-Royce plc. for studies of nonlinear vibrations in gas turbine engines.
