Additional information

The first paper in the field to critically access graphene as an electrode material and question the current status quo that graphene is always beneficial demonstrating that due to its structure, pristine graphene has a low proportions of edge plane sites which are the origin of electron transfer and when used in materials engineering is not beneficial as the literature claims. It is THE most accessed paper in the journal September 2011 AND one of the top 10 most accessed in October AND November 2011. THE most cited paper in RSC Advances after the journals first 12 months of publishing.
