Best Journal Paper Award (The John Jarrett Davis Prize) by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (UK) for the original work on the development of a novel method for the measurement of train speed using low cost inertial sensors. This study solves a difficult problem of train speed measurement in wheel slip/slide conditions, where the conventional position speed sensors will only be able to detect the wheel speed rather than that of the vehicle.
