This paper proposes a new method to determine the pulse wave speed and separate the pulse wave into forward and backward directions based on the measurement of diameter of vessel wall and flow in the vessel. This method is significant for the investigation of blood wave propagation in arteries non-invasively. This new method presents an integrated technique to describe the interaction between heart and arterial system noninvasively.
