Additional information

This paper presented an application that automatically extracts the “region of interest (ROI)” in SDTV sport productions and produces a smaller format suitable for mobile device by means of automatic cropping and scaling (aspect ratio and size of frame) without losing the main element of the original video. The application was originally designed for the post-production and live workflows automation, and could be applied from HDTV, SDTV to DVB-H and vice versa. This paper also presented the results from the subjective tests on the ROI extraction. This work was done in collaboration with Institut für Rundfunktechnik of Germany.
