Addressing failure rate uncertainties of marine energy converters
The paper describes research outcomes that address the development of optimal designs, enabling technologies to facilitate the development of ocean energy converter arrays. The research output focus on generic operation and maintenance modelling using moorings and foundations as cases study. The solutions developed can be applicable to as many devices components or sub-components for different site conditions.
The model once validated will provide optimisation in the design, development and operation of ocean energy arrays, contributing to the efficient and sustainable use of the ocean energy resource. The described model can also contribute to a better cost competitiveness due to predictability of maintenance intervals, which will pave the way to a complementary impact on power quality and consequently enables the deployment of ocean energy systems through project de-risking.
