This scientific approach which considered the time dependent behaviour of decorative lacquers informed the conservation approach of , Victoria and Albert Museum (Brenda Keneghan (b.keneghan@vam.ac.uk) when dealing with historical lacquer based objects such as the Mazarin chest, an artefact dating from the 1600s and the subject of much debate in the conservation community.
