Additional information
This is the first paper to report the effect of in situ applied stresses on the formation and stability of S-phase and the mechanisms involved to advance scientific understanding. As a result of this paper, HD was invited to give a plenary lecture to the 19th IFHTSE Congress (Oct 2011 Glasgow). The output has stimulated UK/USA research collaboration (EPSRC, EP/J018252/1, 2012-16).
