Double-weighted statement

This book covers technological, archaeological, historical and scientific aspects of glass from the earliest glass upto the 17th century AD. It has taken five years to write and includes an extensive consideration of glass as a material, raw materials, global glass chemical compositions and glass provenance using traditional and innovative analytical scientific techniques. Archaeological case studies on Late Bronze Age, late Hellenistic- early Roman and Islamic glass in their socio-economic contexts produce a fusion of science and archaeology for each period. Glass provenance and the use of isotopes in an environmental context is given special attention.
