A trapped field of > 3T in bulk MgB₂ fabricated by uniaxial hot pressing
The demonstration of a world record trapped field in MgB2 in the work described in this paper has attracted worldwide interest. This work was performed as part of exploratory work funded by Siemens Magnet Technology (contact: ID_in_audit_file@siemens.com). In addition, this work was cited by the IOP Superconductivity Group Prize committee (chair: Prof. Simon Bending, ID_in_audit_file@bath.ac.uk) as being a very significant contribution in the field of superconductivity when awarding Durrell the 2012 prize. The Prize is awarded to a scientist working in the UK who has made a significant contribution in the field of superconductivity in the last few years.
