Experimental and theoretical luminous efficacies of phosphors used in combination with blue-emitting LEDs for lighting and backlighting
This paper was given as an invited lecture at Latin Display in Brazil 2008. The paper was fully refereed and gives an overview of the then state of the art in LED phosphors. Much of the findings were from two TSB funded programmes where eight UK companies worked with Brunel (total program costs £4.25M; Brunel share £0.43M). The paper led to two further TSB program CONVERT and a joint EPSRC/TSB program CONVERTED (in these, the LED phosphors are/were used for improving photovoltaic cell performance with three UK industries (total programme costs. £1,625M; Brunel share £0.63M).
