<27> The patent covers the design of a hand held device that can give quantitative indication of water quality to the user. The patent originated from the 4-year AQUATEST project funded by Melinda and Gates Foundation and included early adopter studies in various developing countries worldwide. The device has been received a widespread acceptance and the project is now looking at commercialisation mechanisms. Interesting findings from the project have been presented at various international conferences and journal publications. This work is being followed up by a £50K ABB project between University of Bedfordshire and University of Bristol.
