Additional information

This paper reports a new contrast-free method to measure diffuse myocardial fibrosis and showed it to have high sensitivity, specificity, accuracy and reproducibility, while a further paper confirmed it to be superior to any previous technique including those using contrast [Rogers, JCMR, 2013]. The acquisition and post-processing methods have been patented by the researchers and an industrial partner, and the technique is mentioned in guidelines for clinical imaging by the Society for Cardiac Magnetic Resonance, the leading international body. It is being taken up by centres across the world. The paper was published in a leading medical imaging journal.
