Double-weighted statement

"Jesus’ Literacy" deserves double-weighting in accordance with paragraph 64 guidelines because it (a) forwards a ‘particularly extensive or complex concept or thesis’ and does so on the basis of (b) ‘the collection and analysis of a considerable body of material.’ The thesis of the monograph is genuinely new, as is the methodological foundation of the argument. That thesis reflects the complexity of varying literate skills in antiquity, which the author drew from a range of sources from ancient Israel through the fifth century CE, including literary and material culture.
