Additional information

The work describes the first validated system for testing the response of tissue to high-frequency stimuli. In the context of tendon therapy, the system enables advanced pre-clinical drug testing thus enabling reduction in the number of animals used for such research. The technology is currently being evaluated by Novartis (http://www.novartis.co.uk/index.shtml, contact details available) as a means of accelerating drug development studies, in support of their shift in focus from bone to soft tissue.
