This output derives from the EPSRC funded project “New Geometrical Filtration for Ultra-Precision and Micro/Nano Manufactured Products” (EP/F032242/1). The paper developed standard reference algorithms for robust geometrical filtration including the robust spline filter and robust Gaussian regression filter and were then added to the UK national standard measurement software database through NPL’s Software Support for Metrology Programme. The work developed fast algorithms, the surface analysis, improved the speed by x100 compared with standard algorithms. These fast algorithms adopted by the world leading UK instrument company Taylor Hobson, for integration into their world leading surface metrology software: Talymap.
