Additional information

This work carried out in collaboration with EPSRC and Bentley Motors extended the initial work linking geometric parameters of the automotive brake discs with the performance characteristics of the system, by carrying out detailed optimisation of the associated parameters. The work culminated in development of design equations which when integrated with existing design methodology, resulted in a unique way of designing a pin vented brake disc for automotive application for a desired heat transfer characteristics. The work has further paved way for the development of a unique futuristic inverse design methodology for the design of brake discs.
