Additional information

This PCT patent describes ‘Partial Spectral Data Duplication’ (PSDD), which is a new method for extending high frequency spectrum in audio coding. This was invented principally by Hyunkook Lee. Conventional bandwidth extension methods generate high band data above a certain threshold from the lower band data, based on the correlation between the low and high bands. The present invention obtains the spectral data of target frequency bands from adjacent bands based on the analysis of temporal and spectral characteristics of the original signal. This method outperforms existing methods for audio signals that contain mixed characteristics of audio and speech.
