Additional information

Substation impulsive noise is characterised to assess the electromagnetic compatibility of wireless technology (including WSNs) with the electricity grid. The paper is an output of EPSRC grant EP/D049687/1 (£200,000, PI Ian Glover). Its authorship reflects collaboration across disciplines (power systems/communications), across academe and industry (Higher Education Institutions/Electricity Supply Industry) and across national borders (UK/Brazil). Intense current interest in the architecture of the future smart grid, combined with the emergence of affordable and secure WSN technology, makes the work important and timely. The importance, timeliness and quality are evinced by the award of the follow-on grant EP/J015873/1 (£670,000 PI Ian Glover).
