Additional information

This output covers a non-ambiguous method for quantifying machine tool accuracy and performance of which is critical to advanced manufacturing either for machine acquisition/capability assessment. The work culminates from previous EPSRC funded projects e.g. CAPM GR/R13401/01 assessing machine performance and compensation (see case study), beyond traditional positioning, but from a volumetric perspective. The impact of this modeling is that it is now incorporated into software compatible with new definitions in ISO230 part1;2012, and is used to assess machine performance for aero-engine parts, incorporated in industrial maintenance training programs and is also being used by notable machine users, e.g. Rolls Royce.
